The Laboratory Lead position is responsible for the daily operations of the department, including Specimen Collection, Specimen Processing, Referral Testing, In-house Testing, and some Client Service functions. This role requires a thorough understanding of all technical functions within the departments, acting as a technical resource, training personnel, monitoring department quality, and timely dissemination of information to staff and ancillary departments.

Requirements

  • Associate’s or Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Chemistry, Biology or Microbiology
  • National and State Licensure in Medical Laboratory Science (Clinical Laboratory Science)
  • Ability to read and communicate effectively in English
  • Proficient in many applications of the computer system to include word documents and spread sheets
  • One year of professional laboratory experience in a formal laboratory setting

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for daily operations of department, to include Specimen Collection, Specimen Processing, Referral Testing, In-house Testing and some Client Service functions
  • Know and understand all technical functions of the departments
  • Act as a resource for technical questions
  • Responsible for training of personnel
  • Monitoring Quality of the department(s)
  • Disseminate appropriate information to staff and ancillary departments, in a timely manner, using various forms of communication
