About The Position

The Laboratory Histology Supervisor leads the histology department and is accountable for its operations. The role directly oversees staff who prepare histology specimens and perform testing for the pathology/histology department. This is a full-time, day-shift position at Hackensack Meridian Pascack Valley Medical Center in Westwood, New Jersey, a 128-bed acute-care community hospital.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Histotechnology, Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a chemical, physical, or biological science; or an associate’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technician or a chemical, physical, or biological science plus more than 2 years of experience in a high-complexity clinical laboratory.
ASCP or equivalent certification; certification in a specific area such as M(ASCP), H(ASCP), or C(ASCP) qualifies. Certification must be maintained without lapse during employment.
Experience as a Histology Technologist.
Current knowledge of pathology laboratory techniques and principles.
At least 1 year of experience with high-complexity testing in Pathology.
Overall knowledge of laboratory operations, including quality control, safety, and problem-solving.
Evidence of leadership skills in managing people.
Knowledge of department shift operations.
Excellent customer service skills.
Problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.

Nice To Haves

Certification as a Histotechnologist.
Previous experience in a leadership role, billing compliance, performance improvement, and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities
