Histology Technician
About The Position
The Histology Technician works in laboratory operations at the Laboratory of Dermatopathology ADX in Woodbury, New York. The role involves specimen accessioning and labeling, gross description and dissection, maintaining specimen and patient identification integrity, and describing gross anatomic features of routine, uncomplicated surgical specimens. The position has routine access to Protected Health Information (PHI); employees receive training on safeguards and must maintain strict confidentiality and access PHI only as needed to fulfill job duties. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position scheduled for 40 hours per week on the first shift. The stated salary range is $38.00–$40.00, commensurate with experience.
Requirements
- Associate degree in chemical, physical, or biological science, or medical laboratory technology.
- ASCP certification.

- One year of experience in grossing is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assure appropriate specimen accessioning and labeling.
- Perform gross description and dissection of specimens received.
- Maintain the integrity of the specimen and patient identification.
- Describe gross anatomic features of routine, uncomplicated surgical specimens, ensuring all lesions, marking, and sutures are mentioned.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of Protected Health Information and access it only when required to fulfill job duties.
