About The Position
The Histology Technician works in the Lab Surgical department and processes specimens; embeds processed tissue samples; cuts, mounts, stains, and labels slides, matching them to the corresponding requisition form; maintains daily reports and equipment and Quality Control; and attends and participates in continuing education in-services.
Requirements
- One year of training in an approved Histology program.
- Eligible for ASCP Histology registry; equivalent training and experience required.
Responsibilities
- Process all specimens.
- Embed processed tissue samples.
- Cut, mount, stain, and label slides, matching them to the corresponding requisition form.
- Maintain daily reports.
- Maintain equipment and Quality Control.
- Attend and participate in continuing education in-services.
