About The Position

National Park Medical Center is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Laboratory Director to lead its laboratory services with purpose, expertise, and a commitment to exceptional patient care. This high-impact leadership role involves guiding the department’s strategic direction, overseeing daily operations, and ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. The Director will develop and implement departmental goals and standards aligned with organizational, clinical, and ethical expectations. Responsibilities include overseeing all aspects of laboratory operations, such as patient testing quality, workflow efficiency, technology utilization, and service levels. A key focus will be building and supporting a strong team through effective hiring, onboarding, performance management, coaching, and ongoing professional development. The role also entails managing departmental budgets, monitoring financial performance, ensuring responsible resource use, coordinating internal and external audits, maintaining regulatory readiness, and upholding compliance with HIPAA and other healthcare standards. Frequent interaction with internal staff, clinicians, patients, vendors, and external partners is expected, along with handling sensitive and confidential information. The Director's leadership will shape a culture valuing evidence-based practice, continuous improvement, and professional growth. The position requires independent judgment, informed decision-making impacting departmental operations, and contribution to broader organizational initiatives. The ability to manage multiple projects, delegate effectively, and maintain clear communication in complex situations is essential.

Requirements

  • ASCP or AMT certification; required
