About The Position

Coordinates activities of the MLT department student laboratory to assist faculty in teaching laboratory skills and exercises. This position requires strong interpersonal skills in communication with students to include competency evaluation, skills evaluation, demonstration of new procedures.

Requirements

• Associate’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology from a regionally accredited institution
• Current Nationally recognized generalist certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician
• Minimum two (2) years experience in a clinical laboratory setting
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
• Ability to calculate and apply concepts of basic Mathematics.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• General knowledge of Database software; Internet software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s Degree in Medical/Clinical Laboratory Science from a regionally accredited institution
• Nationally recognized generalist certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist
• ASCP generalist certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician or Scientist

Responsibilities

• Prepares and cleans up student laboratory exercises
• Reagent and supply inventory
• Supervision of students performing laboratory procedures
• Assist with demonstration and performance evaluation of students while in the student laboratory
• Instrumentation maintenance, calibration, and quality control
• Maintain professional certification
• Ensure safety compliance and contribute to providing a safe working environment within the student laboratory
• Contribute to student laboratory development
