About The Position

The College of Arts & Sciences at Georgia State University is seeking to hire an experienced Laboratory Coordinator. This role involves managing the day-to-day operations of multiple instructional laboratories, maintaining physical laboratory classrooms, providing instructional support, and overseeing logistics, safety protocols, and compliance. The coordinator will routinely support courses such as Human Anatomy and Physiology lab I & II, Animal Biology Lab, and Plant Biology Lab. The position may also involve teaching lab sections and assisting with other lab courses as needed.

Requirements

Master's degree in the assigned research area, or a Bachelor's degree in the assigned research area and two years of related experience, or a combination of education and related experience.

Responsibilities

Prepare and set out models, specimens, and equipment needed for each lab session.
Set up and maintain software on tablets and laptops.
Maintain set up guides for each lab.
Maintain digital lab assets and records.
Manage disposal of biohazard waste.
Schedule room cleanings and equipment servicing.
Order supplies and equipment.
Manage lab inventory.
Monitor and keep expense reports.
Supervise graduate teaching assistants.
Assist in the training of graduate teaching assistants.
Report injuries and incidents as appropriate.
Teach one or more lab sections per semester.
Provide backup support for teaching relief in case of illness or emergency.
Assist with the recruitment of new TAs and TA apprentices.
Handle hiring paperwork for TAs.
Assist with scheduling and staffing lab sessions.
Verify compliance with annual Board of Regents trainings.
Assist in the development of new experiments or activities.
