About The Position

Join Southcoast Health, a not-for-profit, charitable health system with multiple hospitals, clinics, and facilities throughout Southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island. We are searching for a talented Laboratory Call Center Specialist to support the Laboratory Outreach Program. This role acts as a liaison to all clients, patients, and providers, responding to and solving problems related to laboratory specimen procurement, test ordering, result delivery, and billing. Incumbents are expected to provide support for all areas of the Laboratory, including hospital sites, pathology, SPG offices, Outreach Patient Service Centers, and the mobile outreach team. Additional responsibilities include careful documentation and follow-up of all patient and client-related activity, investigation and resolution of work queue exceptions, participation in Laboratory Quality events, supply maintenance, and assisting with coverage for the appointment desk Call Center representatives.

Requirements

  • Equal to completion of four years of high school required.
  • Some knowledge of medical terminology or additional courses or training required.
  • A minimum of one year related work experience is required.
  • Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal Influenza and the COVID 19 virus or to be exempt from the requirement for medical or personal reasons by signing a statement certifying you are choosing to be exempt from vaccination once hired.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to and solve problems related to laboratory specimen procurement, test ordering, result delivery, and billing.
  • Provide support for all areas of the Laboratory, including hospital sites, pathology, SPG offices, Outreach Patient Service Centers, and the mobile outreach team.
  • Carefully document and follow up on all patient and client-related activity.
  • Investigate and resolve work queue exceptions.
  • Participate in any Laboratory related Quality events.
  • Responsible for supply maintenance.
  • Assist and provide coverage for the appointment desk Call Center representatives.
