About The Position

As a laboratory assistant, you will be a member of an agile team responsible for biological specimen receipt, identification verification, processing, and storage. In addition, you will perform a variety of clerical, processing, and other laboratory duties that include maintaining supply inventory, filing, stocking, receiving shipments, and cleaning. This position is located at the Superior Drive Support Center where immediate parking is available. The Lab assistant position will focus on ancillary tasks performed within the operations. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Also, Mayo Clinic DOES NOT participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program.

Requirements

A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Ability to stay organized, prioritize, and shift gears in a busy environment.
Conscientious of details and strict safety requirements for handling chemicals, reagents, and infectious agents.
Ability to work independently and as a contributing team member.
Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
Experienced with computers, keyboarding, and telephone operations.
Flexibility

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of laboratory functions, medical terminology, a background in science and 1-2 years medical experience is preferred, but not required.
Knowledge of laboratory functions and medical terminology preferred.
Science background preferred.
1-2 years medical experience preferred.
