About The Position

At ALS, you will be part of a global team focused on scientific testing and data-driven insights to build a healthier future. The geochemistry laboratory offers various departments to explore, including Spec Assay, Weighing & Digestion, and ICP-MS. The laboratory is conveniently located near the Phibbs Exchange bus terminal and provides on-site parking.

Requirements

  • Strong analytical and mechanical skills
  • Excellent hand eye coordination
  • Detail oriented individual with a strong commitment to quality
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Ability to effectively handle a high volume of work and time critical issues
  • Intermediate English communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
  • Intermediate computer skills including MS Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Completion of some post-secondary courses in Chemistry or a related field required
  • Minimum of 2 years laboratory experience in analytical chemistry or related field required

Nice To Haves

  • Diploma in Chemical Science or Technology or a related field preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform sample preparation – filtration, screening, extraction and digestion
  • Perform instrument/equipment calibration, maintenance and repair as required
  • Prepare all required reagents, standards, reference materials, etc
  • Carry out all required data processing (i.e. calculations, data review, data entry, archival, etc.)
  • General laboratory clean-up and maintenance, monitor controlled equipment
  • Adhere to established methods and protocols to ensure analytical quality
  • Observe safety regulations and comply with all relevant health and safety policies
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Manager
