About The Position

Stefanini Group is hiring! Stefanini is looking for an Laboratory Assistant in Research Triangle Park, NC 27709. This position is a Beginner Level experience working under Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), working with radio-labeled materials (carbon-14), performing soil extractions, solution preparation, and record keeping/documentation. The role involves working with laboratory equipment such as analytical and top loader balances, centrifuges, pipettes (mechanical or glass), shakers, high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), and liquid scintillation counting. The selected candidate will support environmental fate laboratory studies conducted in a GLP (Good Laboratory Practices) regulated facility. These studies involve dosing of natural soils, sediments and waters with 14C-labeled pesticide materials to determine pesticide metabolism, abiotic degradation and mobility. Candidates MUST be comfortable working with RADIO-LABELED MATERIALS.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree; Chemistry or related
  • Experience working under Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)
  • Experience working with radio-labeled materials (carbon-14)
  • Comfortable working with RADIO-LABELED MATERIALS
  • Ability to perform soil extractions
  • Ability to perform solution preparation
  • Ability to perform record keeping/documentation
  • Experience with analytical and top loader balances
  • Experience with centrifuges
  • Experience with pipettes (mechanical or glass)
  • Experience with shakers
  • Experience with high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC)
  • Experience with liquid scintillation counting
  • Ability to discuss experience with relevant testing equipment and techniques

Nice To Haves

  • New graduates or recent graduates with 1-2 years of experience are preferred

Responsibilities

  • Possess good wet chemistry and general laboratory techniques (e.g. weighing of samples, solution preparation, pipetting, solvent extractions, record keeping/documentation)
  • Have experience with liquid scintillation counting or be familiar with use of radio-labeled techniques
  • Have experience with high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC)
  • Be familiar with GLP
  • Understand and follow directions
  • Flexibility to work with varying staff from week to week
  • Adherence to safety and waste disposal policies
