Laboratory Assistant - Straub Medical Center
About The Position
Clinical Labs of Hawaii, LLP is hiring a full-time Laboratory Assistant at Straub Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. No prior experience is required; paid on-the-job training is provided. The role supports patient care by ensuring laboratory specimens are collected, including through phlebotomy, and are processed, prepared, routed, and stored appropriately. The work takes place in a laboratory environment with biological hazards and personal protective equipment requirements. The position also involves maintaining safety, compliance, quality control, and confidentiality when handling protected health information. The scheduled workweek is 40 hours, with days and hours to be determined. The base hourly pay rate is $19.74–$21.71, based on experience.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong reading, writing, and analytical skills.
- Ability to operate general laboratory equipment, including telephones, computers, centrifuges, and audible alarms.
Nice To Haves
- 1–2 years of related experience in a clinical laboratory, data entry, or production.
Responsibilities
- Collect laboratory specimens, including performing phlebotomy.
- Process, prepare, route, and store laboratory specimens appropriately.
- Recognize when corrective action is needed and implement effective solutions.
- Work safely in a laboratory environment with biological hazards and follow PPE requirements.
- Champion safety, compliance, and quality control.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and access protected health information only as required to fulfill job duties.
