About The Position

We are currently seeking a Laboratory Assistant to join our team. This full-time role will work days (8:00 – 4:30 PM), including every 4th Saturday (hours TBD on Saturdays). Under general supervision, performs work that involves collecting and/or processing laboratory specimens, entering data into the electronic health record (EHR) and/or the laboratory information system (LIS). Interacts and communicates with patients, their families, and members of the healthcare team by using various communication tools in a timely and professional manner.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED or an approved equivalent combination of education and experience
• Customer Service skills

Nice To Haves

• Certified or certified-eligible with a nationally accredited phlebotomy association
• Completion of ten quarter credits of biology or chemistry college courses
• Six Months of experience in a clinical laboratory setting

Responsibilities

• Assists in maintaining supplies and helping with inventory
• Supports quality improvement initiatives and lean processes
• Accession specimens according to standard procedures in the laboratory information system
• Properly identifies, labels, processes, and distributes specimens using standard protocol
• Responds appropriately to internal and external customer needs and communicates any problems or issues to them
• Assists with pathology send-outs
• Assists with instrument maintenance
