About The Position

Performs blood specimen collection, specimen receipt, and distribution of laboratory specimens, and performs CLIA-waived laboratory tests as requested. Processes anatomic pathology and cytology specimens as requested and assists pathologists and histotechs as needed. May supervise or lead Laboratory Assistant I and II positions as requested. This position may qualify for a sign-on bonus.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Three years of laboratory experience.
• Phlebotomy certification where required by state law.

Nice To Haves

• Associate degree in a laboratory or medical-related field from an accredited institution.
• Basic laboratory computer or laboratory information system experience.
• Completion of a formal phlebotomy training program and/or national phlebotomy certification through ASCP, ANP, ASPT, or similar.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize, receive, register, and distribute specimens.
• Handle send-out and reference laboratory shipping, tracking, and billing.
• Perform waived testing as requested.
• Assist with processing anatomic pathology specimens, including preparation of microscopic tissue slides, staining, and specimen management, as requested.
• Collect blood specimens.
• Process cytology specimens as requested.
• Assist pathologists and histotechs as needed.
• Supervise or lead Laboratory Assistant I and II positions as requested.
