About The Position

This position may qualify for a sign-on bonus. The role involves performing blood specimen collection, specimen receipt, and distribution of laboratory specimens. It also includes performing CLIA waived laboratory tests and processing anatomic pathology and cytology specimens. The assistant will support pathologists and histotechs and may supervise or lead lab assistant I and II positions.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 3 years of laboratory experience
• Phlebotomy certification where State law requires

Nice To Haves

• Associate degree in the laboratory or medical-related field from an accredited institution
• Basic laboratory computer/lab information system experience
• Completion of formal phlebotomy training program and/or national phlebotomy certification through ASCP, ANP, ASPT or similar

Responsibilities

• Completes prioritization, receipt, registration, and distribution of specimens.
• Has responsibility for send out/reference lab shipping, tracking, and billing.
• Will perform waived testing, as requested.
• Will assist with processing of anatomic pathology specimens including preparation of microscopic tissue slides, staining and specimen management, as requested.
