About The Position

Are you highly organized, detail-oriented, and motivated by keeping laboratory operations running smoothly? We are seeking a Laboratory Assistant to play a critical role in supporting pathology and research teams by managing laboratory inventory, preparing materials, coordinating sample processing activities, and ensuring laboratory spaces are organized, compliant, and ready for study execution. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys a combination of inventory management, laboratory operations, logistics coordination, and hands-on scientific support in a fast-paced research environment. You'll work closely with pathology professionals, veterinarians, and research teams to ensure supplies, samples, equipment, and laboratory resources are available when needed and maintained to the highest quality standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 1+ year of experience in inventory control, laboratory support, research operations, manufacturing, healthcare, warehouse coordination, or a related environment.
  • Experience managing supplies, stock rooms, laboratory inventories, or sample tracking systems is highly desirable.
  • Strong organizational and inventory management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working with inventory systems, spreadsheets, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong documentation and record-keeping abilities.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to work independently while supporting a larger team environment.
  • Interest in laboratory operations, pathology, life sciences, or biomedical research.

Responsibilities

  • Manage laboratory inventory, including monitoring stock levels, ordering supplies, receiving materials, and maintaining adequate inventory for daily operations.
  • Maintain wet tissue storage inventories, laboratory records, cleaning logs, and associated documentation.
  • Print and prepare tissue cassettes, labels, forms, and study materials to support pathology workflows.
  • Assist with chemical inventory management, including preparation and maintenance of stock and working solutions.
  • Coordinate sample storage, tracking, organization, and shipment preparation.
  • Prepare wet tissue shipments, ensuring inventories, documentation, and project materials are accurate and complete.
  • Support waste management activities and ensure proper disposal procedures are followed.
  • Keep laboratory workspaces, necropsy suites, storage areas, and processing rooms clean, organized, and inspection-ready.
  • Prepare materials, equipment, and supplies needed for study-related procedures.
  • Verify balances and laboratory equipment are functioning properly prior to use.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment according to established procedures.
  • Record and maintain accurate electronic and paper-based data and inventories.
  • Support data collection activities and research projects in compliance with study protocols and SOPs.
  • Cross-train in laboratory procedures and assist with additional research activities as needed.
  • Follow GLP, ALCOA+, USDA, AAALAC, safety, and company quality standards.
  • Ensure accurate documentation, sample tracking, and inventory controls.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiencies.
  • Collaborate with multiple departments to ensure timely communication and study support.
  • Support pathology procedures including tissue handling, sample collection, tissue processing, and necropsy-related activities.
  • Assist with specialized sample preparation and processing techniques while receiving ongoing training and development.
