About The Position

We are hiring multiple Laboratory Analysts for our state-of-the-art laboratories in North Vancouver. Apply for an invitation to join one of several departments, including Spectroscopy, XRF, and Fire Assay, and play a key role in supporting our high-volume summer operations. The hiring process includes an initial screening call, a video interview submission, a formal interview (onsite or virtual), and an offer of employment.

Requirements

  • Recognized Diploma or Degree in Science required, with a concentration in Chemistry preferred, or completion of the BC Assayers certification program required.
  • Minimum of 1 years of laboratory experience in analytical chemistry, instrumentation or a related field required.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Strong analytical and mechanical aptitude with excellent eye-hand coordination.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to quality and data integrity.
  • Organized, highly motivated, and able to effectively handle a high volume of work and time-critical issues.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Effective problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Strong MS Office skills, specifically MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Must be a Citizen or Permanent Resident of the country you are applying for, or either hold or be able to obtain, a valid working visa.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately weigh samples, perform LOI in furnaces (~1000°C), and prepare pressed pellets and fusion beads.
  • Operate fusion fluxers, presses, mills, and X-ray spectrometers; batch/load samples and perform routine instrument maintenance.
  • Prepare sample dilutions, operating solutions, and calibration standards; assist with instrument calibration setup.
  • Operate instruments, perform routine maintenance, evaluate data using instrument software and GEMS, and resolve QC failures per SOP.
  • Prepare instrument run batches; account for all prepared and available samples.
  • Execute fusions (e.g., LiBO2/LiB4O7, Na2O2) and routine wet assay tasks (e.g., gravimetric sulphate, LECO leaches); run pH, conductivity, moisture, density, and specific gravity analyses.
  • Operate and perform routine maintenance on relevant instruments (e.g., LECO C/S, CO2 coulometer, specific ion analyzers, rapid moisture analyzers, AA).
  • Maintain accurate records of batches, calibration standards, production/maintenance logs, equipment records, and instrument logs.
  • Perform data review/validation and upload/approval according to department authorization and QC criteria.
  • Maintain accurate tracking of completed and pending analyses; reload/recover samples as needed.
  • Prioritize workloads according to daily stats and turnaround commitments; communicate status and issues to the next shift.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas; support daily/weekly/monthly lab support duties (e.g., instrument cleaning, labeling, inventory restocking).
  • Provide flexible, cross-functional support to laboratory departments.
  • Use correct methods in accordance with established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality.
  • Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Report any safety or quality issues promptly to the supervisor or manager.
  • Adapt to shifting priorities and project-based assignments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Lab Manager.

  • Hourly Range - An estimated hourly pay starting at $24.02 - $24.97/hour at the time of posting.
