About The Position

EMSL is seeking a Laboratory Analyst (Asbestos) in Orlando, Florida. No laboratory experience is required; the position offers on-the-job training to help new employees learn technical skills and become proficient in common laboratory practices and procedures. The role involves preparing and analyzing bulk and solid materials for asbestos content, performing quality control and administrative work, and generating analytical reports. This is a full-time position with a Monday–Friday schedule from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The pay rate is $20.00 per hour.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Geology or a related science.
Authorization to work indefinitely in the United States without restriction or sponsorship.
Ability to distinguish colors for analysis.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude.
Effective time-management and organizational skills, and the ability to multitask and prioritize with minimal assistance.

Nice To Haves

Training in light microscopy, optical mineralogy, or use of a petrographic microscope.
Some laboratory experience in an academic or commercial setting.
Zero to one year of experience performing asbestos PLM, TEM, or PCM analysis.

Responsibilities

Prepare and analyze bulk and solid materials for asbestos content using PLM, PCM, and/or TEM, and perform ancillary quality control procedures.
Determine visual percentages and optical properties of asbestos and non-asbestos material.
Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment as needed.
Generate analytical reports and enter data into the LIMS system.
Perform quality control practices according to the company Quality Assurance/Quality Control manual.
Perform administrative duties, including sample login and data entry, scanning and emailing reports, and answering phones.
Carry out other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the manager.
