Laboratory Analyst I, II, or Chemist
About The Position
This role involves performing duties related to the operation of the water and wastewater laboratory according to South Carolina Department of Environmental Services (SCDES) regulations. The position requires performing a variety of work involving the chemical and biological analysis of water and wastewater. Depending on the level (Analyst I, Analyst II, or Chemist), the level of supervision and the range of analytical tests performed will vary. All positions may require serving as part of an emergency response team, reporting to work during adverse weather or emergencies, and potentially being on-call.
Requirements
- Must possess computer skills.
- Must possess instrumentation skills.
- Ability to read and write.
- Ability to perform basic statistical calculations.
- Ability to operate a variety of laboratory equipment and instruments used in plant operations.
Responsibilities
- Performs duties related to the operation of the water and wastewater laboratory according to South Carolina Department of Environmental Services (SCDES) regulations.
- Performs chemical and biological analysis of water and wastewater.
- Operates a variety of laboratory equipment and instruments.
- May be required to serve as part of the hurricane stay-behind/early-return team, report to work, or work modified days/hours or schedules in response to adverse weather or other emergencies.
- May be required to be on-call for emergency response.
- Performs an extensive range of analytical tests for the chemical and biological analysis of water and wastewater including but not limited to gas chromatography, spectrometry, and particle imaging (Chemist role).
