About The Position

The Kansas City, Missouri office of Lewis Brisbois, a full-service AmLaw 100 firm, is seeking an attorney to join its Labor & Employment Practice. The attorney will provide legal services across labor and employment matters and have extensive contact with clients, governmental agencies, and opposing counsel. The practice represents clients nationwide in employment litigation, counseling, and training, across many jurisdictions. Partnership opportunities may be considered for candidates with extensive relevant experience.

Requirements

Admission to practice law in Missouri.
At least 2 years of experience in employment law matters; the stated experience range is 2 to 15 years.
Prior employment litigation experience.
Comfort drafting and responding to discovery and initial pleadings, drafting and arguing motions, and taking and defending depositions.
Strong writing and analytical skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Proactive approach and interest in assuming a significant role in labor and employment law.

Nice To Haves

Employment litigation experience on the management side is preferred.
Employment counseling or in-house employment law experience is preferred.
Extensive relevant experience may be considered for partnership opportunities.

Responsibilities

Handle labor and employment law matters as part of the Labor & Employment Practice.
Draft and respond to discovery and initial pleadings.
Draft and argue motions.
Take and defend depositions.
Provide employment counseling and litigation services, including communication with clients, governmental agencies, and opposing counsel.
Manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment and work independently and as part of a team.
