About The Position

Perkins Coie LLP is a leading international law firm with a dynamic culture based on collaboration, dedication to serving clients, and mutual respect. Recognized for fostering a workplace where employees can grow and reach their full potential, the firm is seeking a midlevel associate with two to five years of employment law experience for its Labor & Employment practice group in the San Francisco office. The ideal candidate will have a passion for practice building, a desire to work creatively with clients to find solutions, strong academic credentials, excellent legal writing skills, and experience in employment litigation, including court appearances and depositions. Preference is given to candidates with experience at an AmLaw 100 law firm, federal clerkship experience, and experience in single-plaintiff and class action lawsuits, wage and hour matters, and client counseling.

Requirements

  • Two to five years of employment law experience.
  • Demonstrated passion for building a practice.
  • Desire to work creatively with clients to find solutions.
  • Strong academic credentials.
  • Excellent legal writing skills.
  • Experience in employment litigation, including court appearances and depositions.
  • Experience preferably with an AmLaw 100 law firm.

  • Experience advising and counseling clients on employment law compliance including policies, handbooks, leaves and accommodations, employee performance and discipline, hiring and terminations.
  • Experience with conducting labor due diligence on M&A deals is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Handle employment litigation, including court appearances and depositions.
  • Manage single-plaintiff and class action lawsuits.
  • Address wage and hour matters.
  • Provide client counseling on employment law matters.
  • Draft summary judgment motions and other dispositive briefing motions.
  • Draft motions to compel arbitration.
  • Respond to discovery requests.
  • Prepare oppositions to motions for class certification, including declaration gathering drives.
  • Draft long-form settlement agreements in wage and hour class/collective actions.
  • Draft separation agreements, offer letters, arbitration agreements, and PIIAs.
  • Advise and counsel clients on employment law compliance, including policies, handbooks, leaves and accommodations, employee performance and discipline, hiring and terminations.
  • Conduct labor due diligence on M&A deals.
