The Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse provides high-quality nursing care to laboring and delivery patients and their newborns in a fast-paced clinical environment. The position is based in a 17-bed Labor and Delivery unit with two C-section operating room suites, four triage beds, and 16 postpartum beds. The unit handles approximately 250 births per month and follows AWHONN patient-care ratios: 2:1 for normal laboring mothers, 1:1 for high-risk labor, 4:1 for couplet care, and 2:1 to 4:1 for antepartum patients depending on acuity. The nurse works 12-hour shifts with 36 hours guaranteed per week. Nurses use a TEAM scheduling system to self-schedule according to their preferences. Weekend work is required every other weekend, and holiday work is required as needed. The nurse may float to maternity, birthing, and postpartum units as needed. Traveler orientation is three days. Required scrubs are navy blue; light blue operating room scrubs are available for use in the OR. OB/neonatology and anesthesia support is available.
