About The Position

This is a 13-week, night shift contract position for an experienced Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The role involves providing comprehensive nursing care to laboring, postpartum, and high-risk OB patients in a fast-paced hospital setting. The nurse will monitor maternal and fetal well-being, administer medications and therapies, collaborate with healthcare teams, educate patients and families, maintain accurate records, and participate in continuing education.

Requirements

  • Active RN or Compact license within the state of Indiana
  • Active Certifications Required: BLS & ACLS through the American Heart Association, NRP & STABLE also required.
  • 2 years of recent and related experience, as required by the facility
  • 2 years of recent experience circulating for C-sections
  • Must be able to work independently, yet together as part of a team
  • Must be able to remain calm under pressure
  • Active BLS, physical, TB test, and other medical compliance as required by the facility

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to laboring, postpartum, & High risk OB patients in a fast-paced hospital setting during a 13-week contract Assignment.
  • Monitor maternal and fetal well-being through continuous assessment, Fetal Heart Monitoring, and timely interventions.
  • Administers medications, IV therapies, and assists with epidural procedures and treatments while ensuring patient safety and hospital procedures.
  • Collaborates with OB's, anesthesiologists, neonatal teams, and interdisciplinary healthcare staff to coordinate patient care.
  • Educate and support patients and families throughout labor, delivery, recovery, and newborn care.
  • Maintain accurate patient records, respond to medical emergencies, and adhere to all clinical standards.
  • Arrive on time for scheduled shifts
  • Participate in continuing education and maintain documentation to remain in compliance.
