About The Position

We are seeking a dedicated Labor and Delivery Nurse to provide exceptional care in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate has a strong background in labor and delivery and is committed to high-quality patient care. The role is in the Family Birth Center (Labor and Delivery), with 12-hour shifts and 36 guaranteed hours per week. Patient ratios range from 1:1 to 1:4.

The unit has three rooms and approximately 150–175 births per year. The nurse may float to other units as required, primarily assisting in Medical-Surgical areas when necessary. The selected candidate may occasionally be the only Labor and Delivery nurse on site and will be expected to care for neonates during C-sections with assistance from the respiratory therapist and anesthesia team. Patients at 36 weeks’ gestation or less are usually transferred to regional facilities for higher-level care.

The permanent staff rotation includes working holidays. Ceil Blue scrubs are hospital-issued. Pharmacy availability is not 24/7.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience.
• ACLS certification.
• AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification.
• BLS certification.
• COVID vaccine required.
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification.

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR), specifically Cerner.

Responsibilities

• Provide care to patients during labor and delivery, adhering to best practices.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to create and implement individualized care plans.
• Assist in delivering infants and manage neonatal care as needed.
• Monitor fetal heart rates and interpret results to ensure patient safety.
• Float to other units as required, primarily assisting in Medical-Surgical areas when necessary.
• Participate in the permanent staff rotation, including working holidays.
• Care for neonates during C-sections when needed, with assistance from the respiratory therapist and anesthesia team.
