About The Position

This position is responsible for ensuring product labels meet production schedule specifications. The role involves managing label materials, verifying product labeling accuracy against customer orders, and operating labeling machinery. The Labeler will also be responsible for recording information from label boxes, ensuring label codes match can codes, and making adjustments to the machine for label alignment and glue adhesion. The position requires the ability to perform machine changeovers, maintain machine speeds, and record downtime. Teamwork and adherence to Simmons Operating Systems principles are also key aspects of this role.

Requirements

  • Must have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Standing on feet for an entire shift and use grasping motion with hands.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have basic math skills.
  • Must be able to read, write and understand English.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures product labels meet production schedule specifications.
  • Manages label materials and verifies all product labeling is correct with customer orders.
  • Loads labels into the machine.
  • Records information from label boxes.
  • Ensures label matches code on the can.
  • Adjusts machine for label alignment and glue adhesion.
  • Able to do changeovers.
  • Able to maintain machines speeds.
  • Records downtime.
  • Participates as a member of the Team.
  • Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies; coordinates work to ensure B.E.S.T practices with all team members.
  • Attends appropriate team meetings.
  • Fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc.
  • Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforces actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.
  • Is familiar with Simmons' established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies); understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position's role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.
  • Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
