About The Position

SOCOTEC is seeking a hands-on Laboratory Technician to join its Construction Materials Testing Lab. This on-your-feet role involves working with soil, concrete, asphalt, masonry, and other construction materials. The technician mixes, molds, cures, and breaks samples and performs standardized laboratory tests in accordance with ASTM and other applicable methods. The role also involves accurately documenting and reporting results, maintaining and verifying laboratory equipment, and assisting with other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and remain on one's feet in a hands-on laboratory environment working with soil, concrete, and other construction materials.
• High school diploma or higher degree.
• Two years of laboratory experience or relevant certifications or degree.
• Technical or engineering background or knowledge.
• Ability to obtain ACI Lab Concrete Testing Certification within six months of hire.
• Strong math skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Mix, mold, cure, and break samples of concrete, soil, asphalt, masonry, and other construction materials.
• Run standardized laboratory tests in accordance with ASTM and other applicable methods.
• Accurately record and report test results in accordance with ASTM and other standardized reporting requirements.
• Keep laboratory equipment clean, calibrated, and in good working order through routine maintenance and verification checks.
• Perform other duties as assigned by a supervisor or manager.
