About The Position

The Lab Technician (Force and Moment), Backshift prepares and installs candidate tire/wheel assemblies for testing on MTS Flatrac® Tire Test Systems and TMSI On-Level Test Systems. The technician conducts tests, records results for customer use, performs daily maintenance checks, and participates in maintenance activities as required. The role also maintains tire inventory records, coordinates shipping and receiving, and provides support in other Smithers departments as directed by management.

Requirements

• High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED), or one or more years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety rules and company policies.
• Maintain tire inventory records and coordinate all shipping and receiving.
• Consult with other Flatrac® technicians or staff to resolve operational or procedural issues concerning test specifications, test conditions, and test duration.
• Coordinate and participate in installing tire/wheel assemblies for testing, including connecting valves, pumps, hydraulic and mechanical components, cabling, tubing, power sources, and indicating instruments.
• Activate test system controls to apply electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, or mechanical power and subject test tires to successive steps in the test cycle.
• Monitor controls and instruments and record test data for customer use.
• Perform daily maintenance checks and participate in maintenance activities as required.
• Provide support in all Smithers departments as directed by management.
