About The Position

The Lab Technician III - Histology works with Cleveland Clinic’s Main Campus Histology team, which prepares tissue specimens for microscopic examination by pathologists, including during surgery. The role’s primary responsibility is accurately entering specimen information into the Laboratory Information System (LIS). It involves handling biological materials, including body parts and blood, and requires careful attention because specimens are irretrievable. The position calls for independent work, accuracy, initiative, accountability, and strong problem-solving skills. The caregiver performs advanced laboratory accessioning, data entry, specimen processing, tracking, and issue resolution. Duties also include creating slides and cell blocks, frozen-section processing, clinical histology tissue embedding, and assisting with cytology adequacy assessments. The position follows safety procedures, standard operating procedures, and regulations, and maintains appropriate documentation. The job listing identifies a day shift and a schedule of 11:30 a.m.–8:00 p.m.; the job details also state that a caregiver in this position works 9:30 a.m.–6:30 p.m.
