About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Lab Assistant to join the team at Ascension St. Thomas Midtown Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee. This role works in a high-volume, production-based environment and performs a vital component of clinical laboratory science. The position supports specimen processing and preparation, data entry, equipment upkeep, troubleshooting, and administrative work while following established procedures and quality and safety standards.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
At least 6 months of administrative or data entry work experience.
Familiarity with medical terminology.
Comfort handling biological specimens.
Ability to accurately identify specimens.
Proficient computer knowledge and data entry skills.
High attention to detail and ability to prioritize and multitask.
Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment and meet established turnaround times.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods.
Ability to pass a standardized color blindness test.
Flexibility to work overtime as needed.

Nice To Haves

At least 6 months of medical documentation and reporting experience.
At least 1 year of clinical or medical industry work experience.
At least 1 year of histology laboratory work experience.

Responsibilities

Receive and sort clinical laboratory specimens.
Prepare specimens for testing and analysis.
Scan and/or enter specimen and patient information.
Ensure laboratory equipment is functioning properly and perform minor instrumentation maintenance.
Troubleshoot specimen-related issues.
Replenish test bench supplies as needed.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Complete record logs and other administrative duties as requested.
Follow Standard Operating Procedures to ensure safety and quality standards.
