About The Position

The mission of a Geotechnical Lab and field Technician I for HVJ, a leading specialty engineering firm in Texas, is to support the project manager, Laboratory Manager, or other staff as directed to assure client satisfaction following the applicable standards, specifications and company guidelines. This includes responsibility for: geotechnical soils testing, soil sample management, maintain quality management systems for geotechnical projects.

Requirements

• Possess High School Diploma
• Ability to lift concrete, soil, or asphalt samples as a routine part of the job
• Valid Texas Driver's License with no history of accidents or alcohol/drug related traffic offenses

Nice To Haves

• A.S. or bachelor’s degree in civil engineering preferred
• Experience in laboratory testing of soil samples preferred
• Ability and willingness to perform year-round outdoor work when requested preferred

Responsibilities

• Perform basic laboratory testing
• Assist in inventory management of soil sample storage in warehouse
• Perform advanced testing under the supervision of senior staff
• Document work performed by number of tests or time spent, as appropriate
• Communicate test results to client when required
• Provide support on engineering projects as directed
• Assist other personnel at the direction of manager
• Perform duties in a safe, cheerful, efficient, and workmanlike manner
