About The Position
The Lab Technician/Phlebotomist is responsible for performing blood draws and specimen collection with accuracy and efficiency, while ensuring patient safety, comfort, and adherence to clinical and regulatory standards.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
- Minimum one (1) year of experience in a medical setting
- California CPT I or CPT II license
- Current BLS certification
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Experience with EMR systems

- Bilingual English/Spanish

Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection following established protocols
- Verify patient identity using two identifiers and ensure accurate labeling of specimens
- Prepare patients for procedures, explain processes, and provide reassurance as needed
- Process, handle, store, and transport specimens in accordance with safety and regulatory standards
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR) system
- Maintain laboratory equipment, perform routine quality control, and report malfunctions
- Follow infection control, Universal Precautions, and OSHA safety guidelines
- Collaborate with providers and care team members to coordinate patient care
- Monitor inventory and notify appropriate staff of supply needs
- Respond to patient inquiries and support lab-related communication workflows
- Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Perform other duties as assigned
