The Lab Technician performs advanced manual processing, laboratory accessioning and data entry, and problem-solving activities, including investigating and resolving issues. Responsibilities may include slide preparation and subspecialty client liaison support. This position supports Hematopathology staff with bone marrow and lymphoma case management, specimen processing, archiving, retrieval, and external consultation services. Familiarity with data analytics is required. A caregiver in this position works full-time, days, 9:00am—5:30pm.

Requirements

Associate’s Degree (preferably in Science) and two years of lab processing experience OR four years of Lab Technician or comparable processing experience OR active enrollment in the Cleveland Clinic MLS Program
Familiarity with data analytics is required.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Medical Laboratory Science
Lab experience or lab/research as part of academic program

Responsibilities

Receive and accession specimens into the LIS.
Conduct higher level accessioning in the LIS including esoteric testing.
Conduct advanced tracking investigations.
Serve as a subspecialty client liaison.
Be responsible for advanced problem solving/issue resolution (pending log/SERS/block QA).
Perform tasks involved with frozen section processing (frozen section slide creation).
Create cell block slides, perform clinical histology tissue embedding and assist in Cytology adequacy assessments.
Prepare specimens for analysis.
Perform manual processing (centrifuge, aliquoting and routine maintenance).
Run and resolve LIS logs.
Retrieve, sort, track and deliver specimens.
Perform logistic activities within and outside of lab.
Use tracking software/devices.
Comply with safety, SOP & regulations.
Maintain appropriate documentation.
