About The Position

Saint Luke's is seeking a phlebotomist/lab support technician who is confident in their skills, patient-focused, positive, and willing to go above and beyond for their patients and peers. Phlebotomy experience is preferred, but not required. We are looking for professionals who like to multi-task and stay busy, and are able to adapt to rapidly changing laboratory workflow. This is a PRN position that will have opportunities to work days from 5 am to 5:30 pm, nights from 5:30 pm to 6 am, and partial shifts to cover morning draws. The job is 50% phlebotomy and 50% specimen processing. The position is used to fill openings in the schedule for PTO, Sick leave, Call In's and unfilled positions.

Requirements

• 1 year of applicable experience

• Phlebotomy experience is preferred

Responsibilities

• Collects patient specimens in accordance with laboratory's policy, procedures and regulatory standards.
• Correlates patient samples to provider laboratory test orders in the LIS/EMR.
• Performs and reports Point of Care laboratory testing as required.
• Uses education and experience to identify and resolve patient circumstances that might interfere with accurate sample collection.
• Communicates effectively with nursing and unit staff to relay information concerning patient collections.
