Responsibilities may range from performing a single procedure or work instruction to conducting multiple analytical, microbiological, or quality system procedures within a Food Safety Laboratory. Precision and accuracy in performing at least 75% of applicable work instructions and in data collection are essential. The team member must demonstrate proficiency and continued growth following training. Proficiency must be demonstrated on at least three consecutive sets of check samples, conducted at least annually, for 75% or more of applicable departmental work instructions. The individual must demonstrate proficiency in using the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), including successful use of log-in, batch action, and result-entry functions. This position requires the ability to perform complex work instructions and/or operate sophisticated equipment without close supervision, work independently, and resolve routine problems. Additional responsibilities include assisting with the planning, development, modification, validation, and evaluation of new or existing testing applications and test results. The team member must communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; maintain ISO records for process control; and comply with all quality system and safety requirements. Cross-training is required to ensure coverage for absent team members in designated areas. Other duties may be assigned as needed. The team member will also be responsible for presenting at least one departmental seminar annually on a scientific or technical topic. In addition, the team member must have achieved all performance review goals and received an acceptable overall performance rating during the previous three consecutive annual review periods.
