As a key member of the Department of Kinesiology & Physical Education, the Lab Instruction Coordinator (Kinesiology and Physical Education) provides lab-based/tutorial based instruction to support course content in human physiology and anatomy, exercise physiology, advanced fitness assessment and prescription, biomechanics, motor learning and control, statistics, sport humanities and physical activity practicum tutorials. Reporting to the Departmental Chair for Kinesiology and Physical Education, this position is responsible for overseeing and for providing lab-based instruction in a range of laboratories and tutorials with an emphasis in pedagogy, sport and exercise psychology, sport humanities and physical activity practicum tutorials. The incumbent acts as a resource for students, staff and faculty in KPE and consults with faculty members concerning course and lab content, and provides training and oversight to Graduate Teaching Assistants and Undergraduate Instructional Assistants. The Lab Coordinator develops laboratory content, and is responsible for the smooth and efficient operation of labs – including purchasing, maintaining and repairing all equipment. The incumbent is responsible for the design, instruction, evaluation, and revision of laboratory exercises and experiments. They develop manuals, study guides, assignments, and lab tests/exams to support the lab and lecture content and ensure that the labs’ outcomes contribute to the educational goals of the department. The Lab Coordinator works independently and is responsible for ensuring safe laboratory practices in assigned undergraduate labs.
