About The Position

This position involves participating in the execution of laboratory projects and experiments, including behavioral and immunocytochemical studies. The role includes small animal handling and husbandry, assisting with maintaining records of breeding colonies and monitoring bird health, and helping to record results, perform calculations, and compile data. The Lab Helper B will also assist with maintaining laboratory records and files, contribute to equipment maintenance, perform minor repairs, and coordinate servicing as required. Responsibilities extend to maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the work area, ensuring compliance with safety regulations related to laboratory equipment, and assisting with the proper storage, handling, and disposal of hazardous materials. Additionally, the role involves maintaining inventory and supporting the procurement of equipment and materials.

Requirements

Experience working with live animals.
Training in wet lab procedures (e.g., histology, tissue sectioning).
Background in biology, psychology, neuroscience and/or behavior.
Attention to detail
Proficiency with Excel, Google sheets, or related.
Available on weekends.
Must be approved by the Work Study Program, McGill University.
High School Diploma
