About The Position

Baylor University department of Psychology and Neuroscience is seeking a Lab Coordinator. The Lab Coordinator supports the daily functioning of a research laboratory by coordinating operations, managing supplies and equipment, and training new volunteers. This role assists with animal care as needed and develops technical expertise in behavioral, surgical, histological, and analytical research methods. The Lab Coordinator also contributes to accurate data collection and analysis, helping ensure efficient and reliable research outcomes.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree and one year of relevant work experience are required.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

  • Additional education or experience may be considered in lieu of one another.
  • Proficiency in rodent addiction self-administration and seeking behavioral paradigms
  • Proficiency in intracranial surgical procedures
  • Proficiency in jugular catheter surgery
  • Proficiency in perfusion and tissue collection
  • Proficiency in performing histological and biological assays on tissues collected from experimental animals
  • Proficiency in microscopy

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily laboratory procedures, including ordering supplies, maintaining equipment, provide training to incoming volunteers and assisting in animal care when required
  • Record and assist in data entry and analysis using specific computer software programs
  • Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor’s mission
  • Comply with university policies
