About The Position

Provides customer service and laboratory-related communication regarding specimen submission and reporting of results to healthcare providers that use the UVA Medical Laboratories.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or Equivalent – 2 years of relevant experience; or Medical Laboratory Assistant Career Study Certificate (CSC) – no experience required.
  • Must meet Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act & Amendment (CLIA) education requirements for complexity of testing performed
  • MLA(ASCP) within 12 months of hire

Responsibilities

  • Communicates patient results clearly accurately and effectively to laboratory clients.
  • Serves as a resource to clients regarding test requirements specimen submission and other laboratory policies and procedures.
  • Serves as a dispatch service for lab couriers.
  • Serves as trainer and role model for new staff.
  • Performs area-specific support activities.
  • In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
