About The Position

Clean Harbors is seeking a Weekend Lab Chemist to support the chemical disposal operation at its Cleveland, Ohio facility. The role is responsible for preparing samples and analyzing them to determine chemical and physical properties. The regular schedule is Thursday through Sunday, 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with overtime as needed. The training schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with overtime as needed. Pay is $23–$29 per hour, depending on experience.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or physical science.
1–5 years of hands-on laboratory experience with wet chemistry testing methods.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Effective written and verbal communication skills for interacting with people from varied educational and technical backgrounds.
Ability to work in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

Ability to set up and conduct chemical experiments or tests such as chromatography, spectroscopy, and titrations.

Responsibilities

Follow health and safety policies and procedures, acting safely at all times.
Maintain a safe working environment in compliance with applicable OSHA regulations and company health, safety, and compliance protocols.
Analyze samples according to prescribed procedures and resolve minor problems.
Calibrate and use laboratory instrumentation.
Maintain equipment and suggest solutions to problems.
Complete analysis-related paperwork accurately and on time.
Ensure work meets applicable QA/QC guidelines.
Manage supplies in the assigned area, including housekeeping and best management practices.
Properly manage waste generated by analytical procedures.
