About The Position

The Lab Associate III performs a variety of pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic laboratory duties. The role supports specimen processing, laboratory procedures, Histology operations, and daily laboratory workflows at Memorial Shiloh. Duties include performing waived and moderately complex testing with appropriate training and competency, collecting sweat chloride specimens, performing EKGs, reporting test results under supervision, and processing routine and specialized specimens. The associate also helps manage inventory and laboratory equipment, while coordinating multiple tasks and prioritizing STAT orders and fluctuating workloads to meet turnaround times within scheduled hours.

The position is scheduled Monday through Friday on day shifts, either 7:00 AM–3:30 PM or 9:00 AM–5:30 PM. Holidays are not required, and weekend requirements are minimal. The employer describes the environment as fast-paced and busy.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• 2–5 years of experience.
• Strong multitasking skills and ability to thrive in a busy environment.
• No supervisor experience required.

Nice To Haves

• Associate's degree.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Phlebotomy.

Responsibilities

• Perform waived and moderately complex testing with appropriate training and competency.
• Collect sweat chloride specimens and perform EKGs.
• Report test results under supervision, as appropriate.
• Sort and process routine and specialized specimens received by the laboratory, including multistep technical processing in areas such as Histology, Microbiology, and Cytology.
• Ensure correct processing and packaging of esoteric send-out tests.
• Coordinate simultaneous tasks accurately, including STAT orders and workload fluctuations, and prioritize work to meet scheduled hours and established turnaround times.
• Manage inventory and clean, maintain, and load equipment.
