Lab Assistant - Surgical Pathology

About The Position
The Lab Assistant works in Surgical Pathology and supports the specimen journey by handling order entry, specimen and material pick-up, transportation, tracking, receipt, and processing. The role also operates and maintains pre- and post-analytic laboratory equipment, including laboratory automation systems. The Lab Assistant interacts professionally and courteously with patients, laboratory staff, and caregivers, may occasionally perform phlebotomy services when needed at the site, and uses information systems to complete work and support laboratory operations.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
Responsibilities
- Enter orders and pick up, transport, track, receive, and process specimens and materials.
- Operate and maintain pre- and post-analytic laboratory equipment, including laboratory automation systems.
- Interact with patients, laboratory staff, and caregivers in a warm, professional, and courteous manner.
- Occasionally perform phlebotomy services when needed at the site.
- Use information systems to complete tasks and support laboratory operations.
