About The Position

The Laboratory Assistant, under direction of the Laboratory Director, enhances and extends the productivity of Clinical Laboratory Scientists by performing patient accommodative services including phlebotomy, specimen receipt, specimen processing and technical procedures as assigned; assumes other duties and responsibilities as directed by Supervisor.

Requirements

• Formal training which will probably be indicated by a high school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to move, traverse, position self, remain in a stationary position and negotiate steps for up to eight hours per day
• Mobility, exposure to hazardous/bio-hazardous materials
• Manual dexterity and motor coordination
• Ability to read and understand medical information
• Visual and auditory acuity
• Ability to distinguish colors
• Ability to maneuver objects weighing up to 20 pounds

Nice To Haves

• Two years experience as a laboratory assistant, phlebotomist, laboratory aide/processor or handler
• Excellent verbal communication skills
