About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Specimen Accessioner/Processor to join its team at Ascension St Agnes in Baltimore, Maryland. This part-time role works in a high-volume, production-based environment and performs an essential part of clinical laboratory science. The schedule is every other Saturday and Sunday from 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The role prepares specimens for testing, routes and labels them, and ensures samples are packed, shipped, stored, and documented appropriately. It also includes timely patient-information data entry, resolving issues with problem specimens, and contributing to department production goals.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Comfort handling biological specimens.
• Ability to accurately identify specimens.
• Experience working in a team environment.
• Strong data-entry and organizational skills.
• High level of attention to detail.
• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
• Ability to pass a standardized color blindness test.

Nice To Haves

• One or more years of experience in a medical or laboratory environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing.
• Unpack and route specimens to their respective staging areas.
• Accurately identify and label specimens.
• Pack and ship specimens to the proper testing facilities.
• Meet department activity and production goals.
• Properly prepare and store excess specimen samples.
• Enter patient information accurately and in a timely manner.
• Resolve and document problem specimens.
