About The Position

The Laboratory Assistant Phlebotomist obtains blood samples, transports samples for medical testing, and processes specimens according to protocol and procedures. The role works with the team to support comprehensive and compassionate patient care. The position is at MultiCare Deaconess Hospital, a 388-bed acute-care hospital serving the greater Spokane region. The schedule includes varied night-shift hours and rotating days, with regular weekend coverage required. The position is 1.0 FTE.

Requirements

• Current Medical Assistant-Phlebotomist Certification (MA-P) or eligibility for Medical Assistant-Phlebotomist certification.

• Experience in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipunctures professionally and skillfully at various sites, and explain the procedure to patients.
• Ensure draws are collected in a timely manner and periodically check pending workload lists for specimen accountability.
• Accurately label patient samples according to hospital policy.
• Transport samples for medical testing and process specimens according to protocol and procedures.
