About The Position

The Lab Assistant III supports the patient care process by ensuring laboratory specimens are properly processed, prepared, routed, and stored. The role involves identifying when corrective action is needed and implementing effective solutions, while championing safety, compliance, and quality control. Work takes place in a laboratory environment with biological hazards and required PPE. The position has routine access to Protected Health Information (PHI); employees must maintain strict confidentiality and follow applicable privacy and security standards, accessing PHI only as required for their duties. The position is based in Dallas, Texas, and is full-time and benefit eligible. The schedule is Tuesday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., for 40 scheduled hours per week on the first shift.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous training or experience in specimen collection or processing.
Strong reading, writing, and analytical skills.
Ability to operate general office and laboratory equipment, including telephones, computers, and audible alarms.

Nice To Haves

One to two years of related experience in a clinical laboratory, data entry, or production.
Background in specimen handling for molecular, FISH, cytogenetic, and/or IHC testing.
Understanding of and ability to interpret pathology reports.
