About The Position

The Lab Assistant III supports patient care by ensuring laboratory specimens are properly processed, prepared, routed, and stored. The role involves recognizing when corrective action is needed and implementing effective solutions, while championing safety, compliance, and quality control. Work takes place in a laboratory environment with biological hazards and required personal protective equipment. The position has routine access to Protected Health Information; employees must maintain strict confidentiality and follow applicable privacy and security standards, accessing PHI only when needed to perform their duties. The position is based in Dallas, Texas. The schedule is Tuesday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. It is full-time and benefit eligible, with 40 scheduled weekly hours on the first shift.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous training or experience in specimen collection or processing.
Strong reading, writing, and analytical skills.
Ability to operate general office and laboratory equipment, including telephones, computers, and audible alarms.

Nice To Haves

One to two years of related experience in clinical laboratory work, data entry, or production.
Background in specimen handling for molecular, FISH, cytogenetic, and/or IHC testing.
Understanding of and ability to interpret pathology reports.
