About The Position

The Lab Assistant III works in the Central Laboratory’s Microbiology department at 2434 Interstate Plaza Dr., Hammond, Indiana. This individual processes specimens and performs the analysis, evaluation, and reporting of waived and moderately complex laboratory test results. Work must follow established departmental procedures and professional standards to ensure appropriate specimens and accurate data are provided in a timely manner. The position is scheduled for 40 hours per week, from 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM, with a weekend and/or holiday rotation.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Background in a medical laboratory and/or knowledge of medical terminology.

Nice To Haves

• Twelve to eighteen months of related experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process laboratory specimens.
• Analyze, evaluate, and report waived and moderately complex laboratory test results in accordance with established departmental procedures and professional standards.
• Provide appropriate specimens and accurate data in a timely manner.
