About The Position

The Lab Assistant III works in the Central Laboratory–Microbiology at 2434 Interstate Plaza Dr., Hammond, Indiana. This individual processes specimens and analyzes, evaluates, and reports results from waived and moderately complex laboratory tests in accordance with departmental procedures and professional standards. The role helps ensure appropriate specimens and accurate data are provided in a timely manner. The schedule is 5:30 AM–2:00 PM, with weekend and/or holiday rotation, at 40 hours per week.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Background in medical laboratory and/or knowledge of medical terminology.

Nice To Haves

• Twelve (12) to eighteen (18) months of related experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process laboratory specimens.
• Analyze, evaluate, and report results of waived and moderately complex laboratory tests according to established departmental procedures and professional standards.
• Provide appropriate specimens and accurate data in a timely manner.
