The purpose of this research project—called Raising Texas Voices—is to study how different generations of Texans with developmental disabilities and their families (a) view disability and their experiences, (b) engage in advocacy, and (c) prefer to learn how to advocate effectively. Our findings will inform statewide advocacy strategies, training formats, and outreach efforts in order to improve overall engagement across the diverse disability community in Texas. We have positions available for Baylor students interested in helping contribute to our recruitment, data collection, data analysis, and dissemination activities. This project is based in the Baylor Center for Developmental Disabilities.
