About The Position

This course addresses the elements of form, color, line, shape, texture, depth patterning and space while moving away from representational accuracy. Key practices include encouraging experimentation with diverse materials and techniques, fostering a "process over product" mindset, and promoting the exploration of structural compositions, personal expression, and intuitive engagement with the creative activity. Introduction of concepts such as composition, balance, rhythm, movement, tension and contrast. Introduction of key historical and contemporary global sources of abstract references. Teaching and discussion take place in the two official languages. Recommended minimum language skills include the ability to understand, read and interact orally in class in your second official language. This course will be offered in person.

Requirements

  • Master of Fine Arts or equivalent.
  • Established reputation and exhibition record in painting and contemporary art.
  • Teaching experience at post-secondary level.
  • Ability to understand, read and interact orally in class in your second official language.
